The study of our national history teaches us where we have come from, and in so doing we appreciate the influences which have shaped our present. As with any journey the past is part of the journey into the future, without which there cannot be a future. A nation which neglects its history wil be floundering in the chilly waters of doom and uncertainty. Sadly, today we are in uncertain and confusing times because, as a nation, the British people have forgotten the Christian and Protestant heritage that has had the most profound and beneficial impact in shaping our identity.
This brief publication, written for this historic Coronation year, is a reminder of the remarkable reign of the little Dutch Calvinist and his beautiful English Queen with her puritan values. In many respects they were a most unlikely partnership. United by providence in a most turbulent period, together they laid down the foundations of modern Britain. The two chapters in this publication are a call to remain steadfast on the foundations, which have served us well, because their breakup wil be as catastrophic as the laying down of them was transformative.
