Full-time Staff:
William Frizelle: General Manager, Belfast & Edinburgh
Having been born and raised in Donaghadee, Northern Ireland, William moved to Edinburgh in 2016 to study at Edinburgh Theological Seminary (formerly the Free Church of Scotland College). William joined the team in our Edinburgh shop in April 2020 as our first permanent Manager. In February 2025 he returned to Northern Ireland and to Belfast to take up the position as General Manager of both shops.
William can be found in our Belfast shop on most weekdays (except when he is away running at bookstall at various conferences through the year).
William and his family attend Ballyclare Free Presbyterian Church, but he often preaches away at various Evangelical Churches across Northern Ireland (and occasionally Scotland and northern England as well).
Shaun McFall: Sales Assistant, Belfast
Shaun has been working with us for several years and always makes sure that no customer leaves the shop without either a book or a good conversation. You can usually find Shaun in our shop most week days.
He attends Ballyclare Evangelical Presbyterian Church, where he serves as a Deacon and is heavily involved in Children's ministry.
David Mayes: Sales Manager, Edinburgh
Originally from Northern Ireland, David has been helping customers as a sales assistant since January 2020. In February 2025 he took over from William as Sales Manager, and can be found in the shop from Monday to Friday. As a part-time baker what David doesn't know about bread is not worth Knowing.
David attends Buccleuch Free Church, Edinburgh, where he serves as a Deacon and is involved in student outreach.
Part-time Staff and Volunteers:
Alan Hamilton: Part-time Sales Assistant/John Gowan Collection, Belfast
Alan was our longest serving employee, but we're thankful that since he retired from his full time role in February 2025 he has continued to volunteer and work with us on a part-time basis. Alan can be found in the shop from Thursday - Saturday and at other times during holiday cover. His main focus is the John Gowan Collection where he spends two days a week sorting, cleaning, and labelling the books, alongside the laborious task of adding these books to our website.
He attends Crosscollyer Street Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Belfast.
Alexia Frizelle: Part-time John Gowan Collection & Conference Volunteer, Belfast
Alexia, the wife of our General Manager William, is one of our newest employees (although she has been a volunteer at many conferences over the last five years). Along with Alan Hamilton, Alexia spends two days a week sorting, cleaning, and labelling the John Gowan Collection, alongside the laborious task of adding these books to our website.
Along with William and her family she attends Ballyclare Free Presbyterian Church, but often accompanies William as he preaches away at various Evangelical Churches.
Alan Baird: Sales Volunteer, Belfast
Alan has been involved with the shop as a volunteer for several years, and can usually be found in the shop on Mondays. Alan also runs an international students Bible study group every Thursday evening upstairs in the shop.
He attends Stranmillis Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Belfast.
Heather Watson: Sales & Conference Volunteer, Belfast
Heather is the wife of the chairman of our Trustees, David Watson, and can be found in the shop every Friday. She also volunteers at a number of our larger conferences and events.
She attends Ballyclare Evangelical Presbyterian church along with her family.
James Gailey: Conference Volunteer
Apart from being one of our most regular customers searching out the latest releases to review for his Instagram account; James volunteers at many of the conferences/events that we attend. He can usually be found at almost all of the large conferences that we support as well as managing the bookstalls at the twice yearly '@the Castle' events in Castlewellan.
James attends Rasharkin Free Presbyterian Church.
Ben Hegan: Sales & Conference Volunteer, Belfast
Ben has been involved with the conference/events side of our shop for several years. Whilst he works for an American software firm in his day job, he can be found supporting our General Manager William in managing a considerable proportion of our events/conferences across the UK during the year.
He attends Crumlin Evangelical Presbyterian Church, where he serves as a Deacon.
