Samuel Rutherford (ca.1600–1661) was one of his era’s most accomplished men—university scholar, defender of the Reformed faith and Presbyterian church government, prolific author, astute political theorist, and Scottish commissioner at the Westminster Assembly from 1643 to 1647.
