Description

Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758) was ordained to the ministry of the Congregational Church, at Northampton, Massachusetts, in 1727, after an experience of conversion. His ministry was blessed by a remarkable religious revival, which led to his writing several books on the subject minutely analyzing the experience. Among them was the work Distinguishing marks of a work of the Spirit of God offered here in abridged form and in contemporary English. The full work is available from the Banner of Truth Trust.

Unwilling to permit unconverted people to receive Communion, Edwards was removed from Northampton in 1749. He then began a missionary ministry, during which time he wrote several of his most important works.
